Eternal Memory
My grandmother’s nickname was Hong Gil-dong.
Here one moment, there the next—
just when I thought she had come home,
she would be gone again.
There was hardly time to sit beside her
and share a quiet conversation.
Perhaps she simply could not bear to sit still.
To hear God’s voice,
we must give Him time to speak.
To see God at work,
we must lay down the things
we hold so tightly in our hands
and make room for Him in our lives.
Today, pause for a moment.
Lay down your restless thoughts,
your phone, the worries and cares
piled up in a corner of your heart,
and the television remote.
Sit in a quiet place.
Let your thoughts settle,
and simply be still.
Feel the presence of the Holy Spirit
moving gently toward you
like a cool autumn breeze.
The hours I spend rushing about
without the Lord
may leave only meaningless footprints.
But the quiet moments I spend by His side
will become memories to cherish for eternity.
“Be still, and know that I am God.”
(Psalm 46:10)
